New Delhi, Being in front of the camera as a model and then as an actress has taught Deepika Padukone how to give the right shots, but did you know that the 24-year-old is a keen photographer and always carries her camera.
The actress, who was here Wednesday to announce her association with Sony India’s Cyber-shot digital camera range as the brand ambassador, said even though she is not a gadget person, she always carries a camera with her.
“Apart from my mobile phone, I always carry a camera,” Deepika, who came in a copper metallic short dress, told reporters here. “In fact, it is very important to carry one of these and just capture moments because you never know when, where, what is going to happen and you can capture one of the most beautiful moments and look back at them years later and cherish them,” added the actress. There is nothing particular that the actress wants to capture. She likes using the camera for anything and everything that excites her.
“I shoot all kinds of things. I shoot people, I shoot if I see something strange or funny. If I find a funny poster somewhere, I shoot that because it brings back old memories,” she said.
Talking about her association with Sony, Deepika said: “It’s (camera) classy, fashionable, sleek, stylish and at the same time very user-friendly and I think these are the qualities that Sony saw in me as a person and I see in them as a brand.
“I eagerly look forward to making a positive contribution to the brand imagery of Cyber-shot cameras and fulfil the expectations from this association,” said Deepika. She also endorses brands like Levi’s Strauss Signature, Kingfisher Airlines, Tissot watches and BSNL, among others.
Masaru Tamagawa, managing director of Sony India, said: “We were looking for a brand ambassador whose personality could mirror this experience and give it a materialistic form. Deepika is a free spirited, bubbly, young girl who at the same time is extremely talented and a professional.
“The association seemed obvious with so many common factors between Cyber-shot and Deepika which appeal to the youth instantly.” Tamagawa also revealed that the company will invest Rs.500 million towards marketing activities with Deepika, which include television commercials, print campaigns, outdoor and shop-front display.

They first occasion when the met each other was at an event held by Bhavan Pandey. A source says, “Ranbir and Deepika arrived separately for the party. They were cordial at the bash. It was the first time they were spotted together after they parted their ways. The famous Bollywood photographer Dabboo Ratnani’s annual 2010 calendar is out. This is the 11th year where he has captured all the top celebrities for his trademark calendar. The calendar this year will have a black-and-white theme.
Deepika Padukone’s picture looks like she is not wearing anything, since all the body parts you see are bare. Dabboo Ratnani says, “I wanted to make her look sensual, but aesthetic. Last year, I shot her in a sari, so this is in total contrast. She strikes a thinking, dreamy pose, and I have used lighting to match her mood. Normally Bollywood is associated with bright colors. Black and white images are of the bygone eras but I opted for a stark B&W mood in the snapshots is dark but the styling modem.”
Every year, Dabboo starts his preparations in October. Although, he has many interactions with the celebrities for their shots for magazines, movies and portfolios, every year all of them take time out for the calendar. Ratnani says, “The shoot provides the stars a platform to experiment with their looks and styling.” The 2010 calendar includes celebrities like Amitabh Bachchan, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Hrithik Roshan, Salman Khan, Saif Ali Khan, Priyanka Chopra, Kajol, Akshay Kumar, Kareena Kapoor, Katrina Kaif, John Abraham, Sonam Kapoor and Kangna Ranaut.
The celebrities who are making their first appearance in this calendar are Asin, Farhan Akhtar, Genelia D’Souza and Imran Khan. Dabboo does not want to comment on which star is looking the best. He says, “They are all my friends and go out of their way to cooperate. For me they all look hot.” Dabboo Ratnani is not interested in selling his calendar in the market, it is exclusively made for the Bollywood celebrities.

After Deepika’s brake-up with Ranbir Kapoor, she is doing a film with Imran called Brake Ke Baad. That is Kunal Kohli’s next movie, he will be producing the film rather than directing. He says, “My director Danish Aslam and I always wanted to call his film Break Ke Baad because it is about a couple Imran and Deepika who break-up and want to come together.”
Earlier the title was registered with someone else. Kunal was unable to locate the legal owners of this title anywhere in Mumbai. Kunal says, “We finally tracked it down to Bangalore to a 60 year old gentleman who deals in electrical goods. He owns a company called Seva Films. He hopes to make films that would change the world. Break Ke Baad is one of the titles he had registered. He loved our idea and gladly parted with the title.”
The most difficult part was to get a permission to shoot in Delhi. Kunal says, “I could write a thesis on what I have gone through to get permission to shoot in Delhi.” However, his problem did not end there. He was also denied the permission to shoot on the Gold Coast. The entire movie is set in Australia and Delhi.

Ranbir’s ‘best friend’ Katrina Kaif accidentally bumps into his ex Deepika Padukone. Recently at a shoot, both these girls exchanged cold stares even before Katrina walked out. Both of them were not in the mood of acknowledging each other. Apparently, Ranbir Kapoor became close friends with Katrina Kaif when he was dating Deepika.
On Wednesday, Dips was busy with a magazine photo shoot in the Mehboob Studio open area. An eyewitness who was watching all this says, “Deepika had come with Farhan Akhtar for her photo shoot. Somewhere around late afternoon, Deepika was giving her solo shots in the garden area of the studio. While Deepika was doing her last minute touch-up, there was pin drop silence and all eyes swiveled to the entrance. It was Katrina Kaif, who had accidentally walked in, thinking it was the venue where she was called for the shoot. She was dressed in a short white skirt and a pink tee, Katrnia walked in and froze for a second. Deepika, who was standing some distance away, saw her. Both had a few seconds of eye contact, and Katrina immediately took a U-turn and walked away.”
It was not surprising at all considering their history. A close source revealed, “Although Ranbir and Deepika are not seeing each other anymore, the latter still has issues with Katrina. It was the growing friendship between Katrina and Ranbir which marked an end to her relationship.” When asked Katrina and Deepika about this incident they were both unavailable for the comment.
